OAC Increases Funding to CCGG

The Ontario Arts Council increases their funding support to the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery.

The Masquerade Reveals itself at CC&GG

October 15th the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery unmasks a new exhibition. “THE MASQUERADE” features work by Anagetha Dyck, Lindsay Craig, and Carole Epp. There will be an Artist Talk with Aganetha Dyck – 1pm, and an Opening 2pm - 5pm on October 18th.

Prosperity Council of Waterloo Region: Creative Enterprise Initiative

The Prosperity Council of Waterloo Region will report back the significant findings and key recommendations from their Task Forces on the Creative Enterprise Initiative to a broad representation of community members at a forum September 24, 2009. This event will be held at the Waterloo Inn and Conference Centre from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. With this report of the yearlong Task Forces, the Creative Enterprise agenda moves to the next stage. 

Winners Announced for Winifred Shantz & RBC Awards @ CCGG

British Columbia artist Jasna Sokolovic wins the 2009 Winifred Shantz Award for Ceramists. Toronto artist Cali Balles wins the 2009 RBC Award for Glass.

At a gala, last night at the CANADIAN CLAY & GLASS GALLERY, JASNA SOKOLOVIC was awarded $10,000 for the Winifred Shantz Award for Ceramics. CALI BALLES was awarded $7,000.00 on this same evening for the RBC Award for Glass.

For children aged 7 to 11, join us for a fun-filled week of creativity with clay and other mixed media! Camp runs from 9:00 to 4:30 with extended care from 8:15 to 9:00am and from 4:30 to 5:30pm.

The Clay & Glass is pleased present three exhibitions opening May 4:

Man or Myth: Explorations on Masculinity

Three artists explore their personal relationships with the traditional notions of masculinity and how this identity can be a fluid one. The Croatian-born Srdjan Segan’s 40-foot elongated clay site-specific sculpture and 30-foot long drawings of the ‘every-human’ pulls from his war experiences while a refugee during the Serbo-Croatian war. Meanwhile, Clint Neufeld’s series of slip-cast ceramic auto transmissions and parts are decorated with delicate Rococo filigree and ornamentation. Finally, the infamous ceramic sculptor, Léopold L. Foulem unveils his latest works, in which the figurine—a trivial cultural object—powerfully challenges the status quo.
