There are two ways for you to add to your postings: image uploads and file attachments.

Image uploads

• upload to a directory associated with your user name
• only your user name can upload to this directory
• images from the directory can be added to your listings, and are visible by everyone
• each file can be a maximum of 1MB
• each account can upload a total of 2MB in images
• images can be no larger than 450 pixels wide by 650 pixels tall; anything larger will automatically be resized
• only the following image types may be uploaded: jpg jpeg png (note that gif isn't allowed to discourage animated images)
• upload instructions

File attachments

• upload directly to Culture Blast
• attachments are itemized at the bototm of your listing, and automatically linked to the file uploaded
• each file can be a maximum of 1MB
• each account can upload a total of 2MB in files
• this is not recommended for images you want to insert into the listing

You are allowed and encourage to embed images and link to documents hosted on your own websites. If you do not currently have a website, we have a list of free & reliable image/document hosts you can access.

Tips for maximizing your image uploads:

• if you have already uploaded the image (eg your organization's logo), this can be reused in any number of listings, so you don't need to upload it again for each listing
• delete images used in old listings
• save the image as a .jpg file with a resolution of 75dpi (maximized for screen)
• use a program or website, such as Shrink Pictures, to reduce the size of your image
• if your image is alredy on your website, link to the image on your website (to do this, you will need the URL of your image)

Tips for maximizing your file uploads:

• for documents, reduce the resolution of embedded images
• for documents, link to the documents hosted elsewhere (more info)
• for PDF files, reduce the quality of the PDF
• delete attachments from old listings

How to use Shrink Pictures

Shrink Pictures was developed to reduce the size of your images online, without having to download any additional software. Although there are many websites which do this, we found that Shrink Pictures has an easy interface to use.

Instructions on how to use Shrink Pictures is on their website. We recommend the images be resized to a maximum of 350 pixels for inserting into Culture Blast listings, with Good or Better image quality to keep the file size low (Best image quality is rarely necessary for on-screen display).

Remember to right-click on the resized image and save a copy to your computer so you can upload it to Culture Blast!
